Program Note: "Ritmo Indio: A study in American Indian Rhythms was commissioned by the Martha Baird Rockefeller Foundation and written for the Dorian Woodwind Quintet, [who] gave the world premiere on Saturday, March 8th, 1969 in the Kiva Theater on the IAIA campus in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Following the premiere, the piece became a part of the Quintet’s repertoire for a tour of 150 concerts given for Native American children in the Southwest of the U.S." - Louis Ballard
