Eleanor Alberga
Piece Duration: 02:12

About this Piece

(Starts at 13:54)

Program Note: Eleanor Alberga composes a wonderful and magical retelling of Roald Dahl’s "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" which premiered in 1994!

Counterpoint / Dissonance / Polyphony: This movement is a perfect example of contrapuntal writing that does not follow traditional rules of counterpoint! This is sometimes called “Dissonant Counterpoint”

Timbre: The score is divided into four sections, from high to low: Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion/Harp/Piano, and Strings.

Suggested Activity: Split the room into these four instrument groups. Listen and watch for which instruments Eleanor Alberga has chosen throughout this movement, especially when the texture grows!

Other Movements Featured:
