Suggested Activity: Create a music listening map that shows the texture or combination of the five musical instruments throughout the piece. First, just make a small mark to indicate the instruments that are playing at one time in each section. Then listen again to see if you notice other aspects about each part. Many musical lines ascend or descend. Consider how you can use a contour line or other symbol to show this contour. Other times, you may notice a call and response between instruments. Consider how your listening map can show this feature, as well.
