About this Piece

Avant-Garde / Experimental: A fun exercise to do while listening to experimental music is to figure out what is happening in the music. What musical element is the most obvious? Is it the rhythm, the harmony, the melody? How is the music behaving?

The longer you spend with an experimental piece, the more it will grow on you!

Extended Technique / Microtonal: This piece requires the harpist to tune their instrument differently (also known as “scordatura”). Many of the harp strings in Omolu are tuned to notes that are in-between the notes you can play on a piano!

More details about the tuning, and the other extended techniques that are used in the piece can be found here!
