About this Piece

Program Note: “The piece begins with an ethereal solo motif that cycles between the flute line and the oboe line, that slowly devours itself into a prominent bass line. This pattern continues throughout the course of the piece with different presentations of the beginning motif, as well as varying melodic material diverging into both a development and a coda.” - Jessica T. Carter

Texture: The flute and oboe explore several different textures throughout the piece. They play in unison, play different material in identical rhythm (homophony), and play independent melodies at the same time (polyphony).
